We are in the post-COVID era and people are back out in the world doing in-person shopping. We are seeing more brick-and-mortar businesses pop up as people adjust to the new normal. So how do we, as business owners, adjust their marketing strategy from the “online only” style we have become so accustomed, to drive in-store sales? Here are some tips to get started:

1. Offer In-Person Only Experiences

One of the best ways to use social media to drive in-store sales is by using social media to advertise experiences that customers can only get in person. We have all become wiz’s at using online meetings to interact with our clients. And while this is a useful tool, break the mold every once in a while and offer in-person interaction. Do you have clients who live locally with you? Offer an incentive to meet over coffee at your office in the city instead of scheduling a Zoom meeting.  If you have a brick-and-mortar business, offer a bonus product or service for customers who physically come into your place of business to shop. Or if they do order online, offer an option to pick up in-store and offer a one-time discount for anything they purchase during their visit. 

2. Be More Deliberate about Posting Video Content

Video content is where a lot of us fall short as entrepreneurs. It can be time-consuming and can take time to edit and perfect. But if you are trying to promote a brick-and-mortar space, you must make video content a part of your marketing strategy. Examples include showing off your new space, documenting a renovation journey, and featuring in-store products and experiences. 

Here are some tips to make it easier. 

  • Come up with a game plan with how much video content you want to release this year.
  • Get into your zone, create a lot of video content at once, and release it over time. 
  • Hire a video editor. This will save you a lot of time, trust me!

3. Leverage Reviews and Other User-Generated Content

Happy customers are your greatest asset! When customers have positive experiences in your store, encourage them to share it on social media. Reposting this content on your own pages helps to build trust and can encourage others to visit your location. If you are a hairstylist and your customers love the vibe of your salon and are posting videos, share them! If a customer had a great experience with your service offerings, encourage them to write a review and post. It. People typically post about experiences they enjoy. Utilize user-generated content as a marketing tool to drive more in-person business. 

4. Take Advantage of Location-Based Features

Most social media platforms have location-based features like geotags and check-ins that you can use to your advantage. When customers visit a brick-and-mortar space, offer incentives for them to check-in. These features are beneficial because you can help customers find your store and promote it to their friends. Implement a process where you encourage customers to check in when they visit your store and offer incentives for doing so, like a discount on their next purchase.

Influencer marketing involves partnering with social media influencers to promote your brand and products. Influencers have a loyal following and can help drive more in-person traffic to your store. By partnering with the right influencers, you can tap into their followers’ network and drive more in-person sales.  Remember to ensure that anyone you partner with aligns with your brand image and values!
